Progress Energy's Crystal River Energy Compound

Progress Energy began its $1.4 billion project to reduce gas emissions from coal units 4 and 5 at its Crystal River Facility and to control runoff from its 4 massive coal stockpiles.

COMANCO was contracted by EPCR (Environmental Partners Crystal River) to construct the containment systems designed to control water runoff for the coal piles, gypsum storage area and the new FGD Process Systems. In all, COMANCO successfully installed 2.2 million square feet of GCL (Geosynthetic Clay Liner) under the supervision of superintendent Larry Graham and 250,000 square feet of LLDPE liner under the supervision of Luis Londono.
