COMANCO was contracted to supply and install the geosynthetics for a series of reflecting ponds at an exclusive Caribbean luxury resort. The size and shape of the ponds ranged from 50’x50 square up to 3 acres and were comprised of 45 mil reinforced polypropylene. Overall 585,500 SF of geosynthetic liner was installed with batten bar mechanical attachments joining the liner to the concrete walls of the pond. The ponds are designed to fit the layout of the natural terrain, while separating the villa and their site line from each other.

Decorative Ponds
Decorative ponds can add aesthetic quality to any property ranging from golf courses to resort reflecting ponds, commercial fountains, or artificial landscape features. In addition to beautifying the landscape, the ponds also protect the water quality by preventing fertilizer runoff and seepage into the ground water.
A decorative pond or lagoon lined with a geomembrane is vastly superior to the compacted clay lined ponds of the past. The compacted clay liners were expensive to install, required extensive labor and equipment, and were ultimately prone to cracking and leakage over time.
Conversely, geosynthetic liners can be installed quickly and economically, and requires minimal equipment. The flexibility of the geomembrane allows the liner to conform to any size and shape and accommodate the most creative of designs. The edges of the liner can be blended into the surrounding landscape creating an undetectable transition.
